Protocol for a fasting blood test
When your GP asks you to attend for a fasting blood test, eg. for a fasting lipids or glucose test, it is essential that you have nothing to eat or drink, apart from water or regular medication, from 10pm the night before the blood sample is to be taken.
If any of your regular medications should be taken with food, it may be advisable to delay taking them until after the test.
If you require further assistance, please contact us for advice on 01244 814272.
